HEY, I'M JILL

the founder behind the mentor mom

I created The Mentor Mom to help parents feel more confident, calm, and connected during the early childhood years. This work brings together my decades of experience in early intervention, child development, and supporting families through real-life challenges.

My goal is simple: give you practical tools that make parenting easier and help you understand your child on a deeper level.

How I went from overwhelmed to confident and clear in my parenting

Before becoming a parent coach, I struggled with the same things many parents face: feeling unsure, juggling big emotions, and wanting to do better for my kids.  At the time, I was working as a Children’s Protective Services Worker. Even with that background, parenting two young children felt harder than anything I did professionally. I dealt with...

• Fear that I wasn’t doing enough
• Feeling unprepared for daily challenges
• Long days and exhausted evenings
• Not knowing when to ask for help
• Wanting more joy and connection with my kids

Understanding development changed everything. It gave me clarity and tools that actually helped. That’s why I now teach other parents the same approach.

I learned how to build my confidence as a parent and create a calmer home.

Like many parents, I had seasons that felt overwhelming. I wanted to enjoy my family more and react less. So I learned everything I could about early development, behavior, and how young children communicate. Those tools changed my home and helped me support my kids with more confidence.

I didn’t find one perfect answer. I built a framework that helped me understand what was happening beneath the behavior and what to do next. That’s the same approach I now use to help other overwhelmed and anxious parents feel more grounded and capable at home.

Passionate about helping others

I see myself in the parents I support. Parenting brings joy and stress, often at the same time. You want to respond well, stay calm, and raise your child with intention. With the right tools, you can. My role is to help you understand your child’s development, simplify your day-to-day challenges, and create the kind of relationship you want with your child.

I'm all about

Road trips in the RV, campfires, the beach, big dogs, grumpy cats, strong coffee with lots of cream, and time with my family.

I'm not about

Drama, unnecessary complication, laundry, or rude people.

If I can learn this, you can too. I’ll help you every step of the way.

My work as a social worker and early childhood interventionist has allowed me to support families for almost three decades. The families I’ve partnered with have shaped my approach, my tools, and my belief that parents thrive when they understand development and have simple strategies they can use each day.

If you’re ready to get clearer about your child’s needs and create a calmer home, you’re in the right place. I’ll give you practical guidance that helps you understand your child, support their growth, and build a stronger connection. This work takes effort, but it is absolutely doable.

Change starts with you, and you don’t need to do it alone. I’ll help you build the skills that make parenting feel more manageable and more meaningful.
